More monoski

The contest deadline of the monoski contest has been extended by 14 days. So now you can still submit ideas until Feb. 15, and rate until Feb.22.

We have extended contests on the past, and these are some arguments why we thought it would be a good idea in this case:

1. The contest started out as a very short contest in first place, with a run-time of only roughly 3 1/2 weeks instead of the regular 6 weeks. We had planned this contest to be a quickie, because of the connection to the Vancouver Olympics. However, we soon realized that this contest, perhaps more than others, requires getting a ‘feel’ for the story, the characters and the emotions connected to the campaign. This is one of the reasons we decided to give the community more time to develop ideas.

2. The connection to the Vancouver Olympics, was, after a discussion with the parties involved in the campaign, seen as less important, instead seemed more effective to have the campaign continue well beyond the Olympics, flanking the release of the individual episodes of the documentary. It is now planned to have posters and ads printed before the release of episode four.

3. You should consider that this task is part of an unusual, experimental social media campaign. A range of channels have been mobilized to push the film and Alain and his team, to make the story come alive!

Beyond the facebook site, there’s also the official site of the documentary. Make sure to check out the ‘about’ section, and the first epsiode which has already been released!

You’ll find more about the crew who made this film, and the additional promotional actions that have been launched. I can also recommend reading this which might help you understand the strategy behind the Team Monoski cross media campaign.
