Brooklyn’s Renegade Craft Fair – like Etsy in 3D
For some Sunday inspiration I’d like to share a couple of images I took earlier today at the annual Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn’s McCarren Park.
300 artists and hand-crafters exhibited their stuff, ranging from screen-printed T-shirts, toys and prints to pottery and jewelery.
I got this cute T (fair-trade cotton, of course) and a unique feather-inspired felt headband (image below).
There were good old mugs, cups and bowls taken 21st century with cartoon character glazing, 2-D cuckoo-clocks and absurd miniature-world pin cushions in floral cups.
Whether useful or not, I’m glad people make things creative and colorful – and walking around a marketplace in “Real Life” in the sunshine is an experience on its own. (OK, it IS reassuring to know that most of the artists exhibiting here can also be found online) Hope you enjoyed the images!
