Billboards that Rock
Sometimes there’s nothing like seeing a really good advertisement. Whether it’s a commercial, a magazine ad or, in this case, a billboard, a great ad is hard to beat. Here are some examples that really rock!
The McDonald’s Piccadilly Sign
McDonald’s has recently launched a new interactive sign where passers-by can interact with images displayed on McDonald’s giant LED screen, so visitors can take an interactive role at one of London’s most photographed locations.
Start the car
This billboard appeared in Dublin for Honda, where customers could “start” the car by texting to an SMS shortcode and could also download information by Bluetooth.
It happens when nobody is watching
Amnesty International put this interactive ad poster “It Happens When Nobody is Watching” to discuss the “domestic violence” issue. The poster has an eye tracking camera, when the passerby watches the poster it shows an image of a happy couple. But as soon as they look away, the poster shifts to a different image showing the man punching the woman.
Big in Japan
Big in Japan is a reality TV powering Swedish in Japan. In order to promote the broadcast of channel TV6 Office, the agency has installed an interactive screaming which takes pictures, thus simulating a delirious Japanese crowd whenever a passer-by was captured by the billboard.
Tide
To demonstrate the long-lasting whiteness of Tide detergent, billboards covered in cotton with self cleaning effect were placed on a really busy road. After a few weeks, they became more and more polluted and clean clothes were revealed.
Light bulb
This Outdoor Advertising hoarding for The Economist won the London International Awards in “Billboard Advertising” category. When people see this billboard from a distance they only see a lightbulb, but when people pass the billboard a motion sensor is triggered so the bulb goes on.
God
Well what can i say. I laughed my ass off.

Alice
