First of all, can you tell us a little about who you are and how you ended up at jovoto ?
My name is Sebastian and I work as a graphic designer for almost 6 years. I do a lot of illustration work and love surfing, skating and snowboarding, so my work is inspired by old skateboard graphics and ads. A friend told me about the Hydroponic contest on jovoto and I thought about giving it a try because it fitted the kind of lifestyle and graphics I’m into.

You were second in the Hydroponic contest and sold your idea.… but what happened afterwards?
The guys at Hydroponic liked my style and my portfolio so they asked me if I could do some more shirts for them. They bought some designs I had “in stock” and I did a couple of more shirts exclusively for them.

Do you know why Hydroponic contacted especially you for this job?
Really no idea. I think they liked my style and the stuff I did in the past. And I think they thought it would be cool to work with a designer who skates and surfs by himself and knows the scene and the current trends.

Were there any mandatories from hydroponic?
Not really. I became second in the contest with a design that shows a surfer. So they asked me to do a series with a skateboarder and a snowboarder. The other stuff was quite free. They showed me some of the designs they like and I tried to do something similar that fits their style.

How was the cooperation between you and hydroponic?
Awesome! It’s so much fun to work with these guys! They know what they want, the briefings are clear and they always respond quickly to eMails. It’s not very common in this business. I really appreciate working for them.

How long did it take between the sell on jovoto, the contact, until the final shirts?
Actually they asked me immediately if I could do some designs for them.

Is there gonna be a follow-up?
You should ask Hydroponic :) I really really would love to do more stuff for them.

And of course we want to know, what do you think of jovoto?
I think it’s a great way to create new and uncommon ideas. There are so many talented people on jovoto and even if you don’t take part in a certain contest it’s so much fun to look at all these brilliant ideas.

And last but not least, what do YOU want to share with us.
Thanks to jovoto and the guys at Hydroponic for supporting me. I really appreciate you guys gave me the chance to do all these designs. And for more designs from me check out
