The wait has come to an end: Vapur contest winners!

I know you have been waiting impatiently, and we greatly appreciate that. I already have been going on and on about how happy we were about the run and outcome of this contest and every conversation on this contest still turns into some kind of flower-power-peace-love-and-harmony-parade… so I’ll try to spare you that and promise to get straight to the point: THE CONTEST WINNERS!

1) Water is fun by perrocontodo

Yepp, perrocontodo is definitely living up his name: I recently asked him about his name’s meaning and he replied that in venezuelan slang it would be something like “fully charged hot dog” – and here we go with a hot dog and a guy fully charged with Vapur Anti-Bottle water! A series of super fresh and stylish fun designs with an ironic twist that we just can’t get enough of! So keep up that great work, you just got us addicted!

2) Bottle Inhabitants by vectorspecies

Another design that we can’t take our eyes off: vectorspecies made us fall in love with his funny, little hydrophobic bottle inhabitants that just can’t stand you refilling the Vapur bottle. Sorry, guys, you’re just way too cute when you’re angry, so we can’t help ourselves refilling the bottle over and over. Congrats, vectorspecies, amazing job!

3) fantastic tap water by idea_generation

No wonder you loved to dive into idea_generation’s world of Caribbean freaks. Every time we look at these stylish yet so funny illustrations, they put a smile on our face, make us dream about endless oceans… and probably never ever want to stand on an island again without knowing what’s underneath. Great job, we liiike!

And last, but not at all least: 4) World Changers Collection by hauptbahnhof, 5) Relation between plants and water by oxelot, 6) Small world by Peregrino96

But waaaaaait. We haven’t finished yet. It’s getting even better: For now, Vapur already decided on licensing three ideas. To quote them “it was an incredibly hard process”, but based on the jury vote they selected the following three:

1) Bottle Inhabitants by vectorspecies, see above.

You are one lucky guy, vectorspecies! Double congrats, you deserve it!

2) Aqua libre by pommes

His illustration of mexican wrestling, “la lucha libre” just convinced the judges – and us as well! So to quote pommes: Get ready to rumble, enough reason to celebrate!

3) thirsty by LUGOS

Another funny and stylish design that made our day. Didn’t we all love Nemo? Nobody can resist smart fishes. Congrats, LUGOS!

The licensed ideas will form an limited-edition “Artist Series” to be launched in 2011 and will get credit inter alia on the packaging and the Vapur website. Together with the six community winners, they will be celebrated on the upcoming Opportunity Green Business Conference in Los Angeles, September 22nd-24th.

I STILL HAVEN’T FINISHED! Vapur will also license several additional designs that will become part of the new collection of Anti-Bottles slated for release next year. Just hang in there a bit too see if it’s going to be yours!

Ok, now I’m about to finish. I just want to quote Jason Carignan, Chief Design Officer and Co-Founder of Vapur to show you once again, how impressed they were: “We are thrilled with the outcome. (…) The number of entrants and the quality of their work far exceeded our expectations.”
