Tell us a little bit about yourself, who are you, where are you from?

I’m Xavier Iturralde (aka Xavier), vegetarian, creative, graphic designer and artist from Guayaquil,
Ecuador. I really love to create and learn as much as i can, always looking for things
that people think that are just impossible dreams and would never become real.
I believe that everything is possible and can be done, it just depends on the love and
passion you put on it.

How did you actually find out about jovoto, and what was your first impression?

I really don’t remember it very well, but i think it was from twitter i guess. When i saw the
jovoto platform i couldn’t really believe that i found what i was looking for a long time.
With some friends of mine we always were talking about a platform like jovoto but
because of how things works here in my country we knew that the clients wouldn’t
believe in this way of working, so we just dreamed about it all the time.

What made you become a designer, and what do you love about design?

I think i was born to be a designer and artist because i love to look deeper at life, i love to
make people’s life better and also maybe because i’m better at graphics
than with letters. What i really love about design is that it makes you infinite, you can always
create even when you are sleeping; i used to dream a lot.

Anything you donʼt like?

I love everything about design i just don’t like the way people(including clients) look at
it in my country, here people don’t really appreciate it as it should be. They are not
aware what design really means in their lives, that’s why i always try to work harder
on creations to someday find a way to get into my people to make their life better in
any way i can.

So where do you get your inspiration from?

Cosmos, Sun, Moon, Ocean, Nature, Animals, Love, Peace, Yoga, My Family, My
Friends, Ancient Cultures as Mayas, Valdivias, Nasca, The Greatest Masters as
Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, Rembrandt, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste
Renoir, Marcel Duschamp, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, M.C. Escher, Felix Beltrán,
Saul Bass, Paul Rand, Luba Lukova, musicians as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The
Beatles, Air, Daft Punk, Lemon Jelly, Bob Marley, Jimmy Hendrix, The Strokes,
Boards of Canada, Björk, Gustavo Cerati, Manu Chao, my favorite filmakers René
Laloux, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton and some others geniuses
creators that have changed my life for ever.

And what are your favorite types of jobs/challenges?

I really love posters or “carteles”(as we call them in spanish), i’m a crazy logo and
icon lover, i think typography is exquisite, also cartooning, motion graphics, 3D
animation, toys and experimental designs with handmade included.

Anything you want to tell the community?

I’m really impressed by the quality and creativity i’ve seen from all the community
members, it’s really fantastic and awesome how so many talented people get
together in one place, it’s extremely inspiring!!!

Of course!!!, i’ll be a jovoto community member for ever!!! giving all my love!!!
All the people i’ve meet at jovoto have made me a better human been and a
much better designer; i really love my jovoto friends!!!
