A new contest just launched on jovoto: together with better beta, the community conference for design thinking experts in Europe, we’re coming up with ideas for the visual identity of the conference!
Since the contest opened for submissions yesterday, we have already received 32 ideas. Probably a couple more as we speak!
The conference: Design Thinking
This conference is organized by Universität St. Gallen in Switzerland and will be hosted by Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany. It brings together ‘Design Thinking’ people from Europe for the first time! The initial idea was actually born out of a Design Thinking Xing Group. The group thought it would need a space and some time to meet in order to kick off a productive discussion!
But what is design thinking? It’s a method to solve complex problems – usually by bringing together people of different disciplines, and working collaboratively in a process of researching, discussing, protoyping and testing. The method was first defined by the founder of IDEO Tim Brown. But today design thinking is being taught at numerous universities worldwide and even has its own insitute at Stanford and in Potsdam. Derivatives of design thinking are being employed for ideation in a wide range of subjects – even on jovoto, where an important part of our ideation power derives from the fact that we’re multidisciplinary and rely on instant feedback.
The visual ID for a design thinking conference
This conference is taking place for the first time, but the goal is to make it live on to become a regular meet-up for design thinkers. What kind of a visual appearance is the right one? Serious, playful, artsy, loud, elegant? If you have an idea, read the briefing and participate!
We went to typo last week – surely one of the worlds most renowned conferences for designers! They had a very unique visual identity… flying fish zooming by, and a ladder!
Of course a conference visual identity is much more that its website header! This is just a quick inspiration, nothing more.
