You will smell nothing, because the coffe ground cup have a biodegredable plastic layer!

I may have missed this in the comments.

Wondering if you could compress it enough such that you don't need to put a coating on the outside. This would make it less complicated and use less materials.

I would imagine the chains may resist the requirements of staff time and a new gizmo in their stores but perhaps this could be a separate company or joint venture that collects the grounds, makes the cups and sells them back?

i think its a good idea for preventing the logistic problems, when the cup is produced directly in the shop.

As my background is engineering, i think it could be possible to press it hard enough to make it hard enough to resist the pressure of the hand, but only a testing machine could proove that.

Definitely in the category of mad inventor - fantastic idea assuming the machine can work! I love it.

This is the exception that proves the rule and the only recyclable cup here that doesn't need transportation! I like your idea very much.
A cheep tool/machine/gizmo for molding the ground is a piece-of-cake to develop. My only concern is about durability and leackage...

    Qvistar

I am not persuaded that the solution resides in cranking up the manufacturing machinery to produce a different cup: A disposable biodegradable cup. It is as if we are going back to square one. On that note I ask what would NASA do? If the solution does not work in Space (our manifest destiny) commonsensical thinking provides that it will work (for long) here on Earth. The message that we are sending to the next generation is: It is OK to send billions of biodegradable cups to the landfields and to breakdown in our communities - Not! The message that we should be teaching is reuse reuse reuse and more reuse.

Thus I am persuaded that solutions that do not provide for reuse will ultimately fail.
As with many front-runners I have difficulty giving high marks due to a total disregard for rewarding community that has rewarded or promoted ideas to the forefront. Accordingly @ idea owner you have favored zero Beta Cup idea and provided little to none ratings and comments.

For Shame! Where is your love or thanks to the community that has made it possible for your idea to be where it is? http://www.jovoto.com/community/manueldr - It is as if you are taking a free ride and the community for granted. I don't get it ::::baffledlook:::::

      Fantastic idea manueldr.

The fact that this takes transportation out of the way just makes it more sustainable.

I would say disregard qvistar. I think he is just having a bad day.
