Lid for Life is a reusable customized lid that incorporates a charge card for a simple, easy-to-integrate concept. Its impact not only helps the environment, but trickles down to enhance and streamline other areas of the Starbucks experience:

Because of its small size and weight, and simple construction, carrying just the lid is much more convenient than a whole cup or mug. It also enables Starbucks to keep its iconic cup form, whose recycling issues could be solved with a change to a more sustainable material choice. The Lid for Life, in the meantime, provides a small step that can make a huge impact.

Save time and the environment by avoiding the line: the Lid for Life works as a charge card that stores frequent buyer information and favorite drinks, resulting in a quicker check-out.
Which one’s your cup?
The Lid for Life features different designs and materials, and help to distinguish your drink in the to-go lineup at a glance, even if you don’t hear your order.
Currently, each cup size requires a different lid. Making the cup diameters a standard size would enable interchangeability with the Lid for Life.
Space Efficiency:
By taking off the lid before throwing away, the Lid for Life encourages stacking of used cups in the trash. This makes more efficient use of trash space, and makes taking out trash easier and less frequent.
