@shaunabe do you mean a lid, by cover? certainly it's possible - i'll try and post something before the deadline.

re. market feedback, product sold very well for several years - over a million units, with limited returns (unwanted gift rather than product failure), main challenges relate to instructions.

@zacharycraig @bradhankins, regarding sturdy the design ensures that it is sufficiently sturdy to hold hot liquids, however I do take on board the fitting in the cup holder comment. There is also a beaker design which doesn't incorporate the handle.

I hear you on the legal front, we actually had to put "do not unfold during use" to ensure against stupidity.

@bunterberg will see if I can download video from youtube then post.

The assembling and disassembling will be an issue. In a fast pace morning rush, I don't think a person will want to assemble this on the go or have time to. There's opportunity for assembly errors that could frustrate the end user - especially in the morning when you haven't had your coffee yet.

Assembly should be a max of 3 steps, beyond that I think people will not want to bother. Also, once you have finished the coffee, you cannot unflatten without cleaning it first.

I think this is a great idea with specific usage only - not on the go coffee drinkers. This is perfect if you have minimal kitchen space where you can store it easily.

Great design. I like the form and its potential, but agree with dcanon above. This is not for on-the-go coffee drinkers. This is currently a replacement for the plastic/metal water bottles tethered to backpacks. I see it's greatest potential in the traveling/camping/backpacking environments.

The on-the-go consumer deliberately does not want to care for a coffee vessel once they leave their home. Purchasing a new clean cup is part of the chosen daily ritual.

The crux of the problem is what do you do with an empty dirty cup in a professional setting where you can't readily rinse it out. The cup might as well be non collapsible. A lid is essential for this cup to be used for coffee by the average consumer.

Surely everyone who drinks coffee is within a stride or two of somewhere to wash their cup, almost by definition?

I tracked down this product after creating my own folding cup entry. The composition materials (polypropylene) work, but this cup lacks a lid and won't fit in a car cup holder as mentioned above. Nevertheless, a cool design. Is the person submitting this design on behalf of the company that makes it?

@robhoski - I designed it, then founded the company that outsourced production and distributed it.

Awesome. I am really impressed by all those cup folding ideas here. It would have never crossed my mind to design something like that... But as to practicability I agree with most posters here - great for camping and cold drinks but a bit difficult with hot coffee...
