THE NATURAL CUP
THE EXPERIENCE:
Perhaps this is the greatest strength of this idea since “the whole experience” does not change for the end users. The change is the only constant yet no one is willing to change. It is very hard to change people’s behavior. Therefore, with the Natural Cup concept no one individual has to change.
People will get their coffee on the go – in a single use, sturdy, durable, & tasteless cup - just like what they’re used to. No life style change for the end users.
Moreover, the cup is stylish, sustainable, and 100% biodegradable. A cup decomposes in months – people feel good using it and tossing it away without leaving a long-term carbon-footprint behind. Cup feels natural as well.
WASTE REDUCTION:
Since the cup is made out of 100% natural and biodegradable materials, it will decompose within two months. Moreover, the cup will turn into compost that can be used in landscaping; leaving zero impact on the environment. This idea promotes trees plantations; therefore, it further aids and benefits the environment.
CAPABILITIES:
This concept is centuries old, which has been used by our ancestors in the continent of Asia. It has not been streamed by the modern world technologies to mass-produce or given serious thoughts to the product design and aesthetic needs of the modern world.
RESOURCES REQUIRED:
Presently, this process has not been industrialized or automated; therefore, it will be difficult to accurately justify the costs. However, consideration of the following shall provide some reasonable answer with educated reasoning. Production process is very simple:
1. Collecting naturally fallen leaves - otherwise buried or burnt.
2. They are then cleaned, steamed and pressed.
3. They are then dried with help of the mighty Sun, or even at room temperature.
ENERGY SAVINGS:
Energy required is dramatically less than the traditional means of manufacturing (e.g. biodegradable cups that are made out of bagasse – sugarcanes, rice husks, corn & etc). Presently, these leaves are discarded because there is no other usage. Abundant supply of these trees exists - over 200 billion leaves fall naturally yearly; exceeding the present demand of these cups.

I see that you love this idea...but "dislike" all of the other top ideas.
We are trying terribly to keep this community fairly rated. We are not against each other but striving to find a solution TOGETHER...which could mean a collaboration of ideas...so please remember that the goal is to find a sustainable solution and ask mother nature to forgive our past actions and irresponsibility.

I am really disappointed you've rated my idea a 'dislike'.
Given that you've used my video as a link to bolster your idea, I don't see how you could show anything other than support. I rated you well because I believe in the material and an impressed you made a prototype, but didn't feel you painted a full picture.
It's not about winning 2,000 dollars, it's about supporting something you believe in.

Its a mishap; in fact i love your idea, as we both are in the same boat. I've gave you 10 just now. I will say this the rating need to be weighted average base on # of votes, rating it self, and time its been posted because an entry with 350+ vote should have higher weight than someone entered recently and has only 25+votes. (Nothing implied at you brother just wanted to throw my two cents in)
Lastly, I haven't invented anything new here that isn't proven; its been used for centuries if fact if you visit India you'll see these in used everywhere.... Jovoto & betacup is bringing this out to the westerner.

Over here in Solomon Islands, it's used as a 'custom plate' for feasts in the villages on special occasions. It's a great material, and let's hope that it gains some more attention in the west.

we'll use the next 48h to check all ratings again. The rating status of community members with strategic or manipulative rating behaviour will be put on false, hence their ratings won't count anymore. We will then re-activate the tallying of the votes and present the final result.
So please, have a little more patience and enjoy the leisure time (you at least have some ;-)
Best wishes from sunny Berlin
