Finally a collaborator! Seems like most everyone else is focused on promoting "their" idea when the Betacup challenge is about collaboration. @dan it seems that you are on to something but the iconic white Starbucks cup - I trust a replacement would have to maintain pretty much the same look and feel. You are worth following I like your spirit of collaboration.

hey, cool idea, just a simple redesign to the regular paper cup could make a difference. The only problem i see is cleaning - when I want to fold and store the cup on the go, there's often this tiny rest inside which would leak out into my bag.

@Texastee - I couldn't agree more, I was considering ways to address that problem. A small plastic pouch wouldn't work because it would be lost too easily, and then the cup would create more waste than it saves. As of right now I'm hoping consumers can just learn to dump their last bit of coffee in the trash without letting go of the cup, but If I come up with something in the next forty days I'm definitely going to add it.

@Qvistar - I wouldn't dream of changing the branding of the Starbucks cup. I was just trying to show this new cup in it's own context, but I should probably put an image of the cup up with the Starbucks logo. I recently got a puppy, so my contest time has been a bit limited lately.

    Thanks!

Would this cup still fit in a car cupholder without sacrificing volume?

Have you made up a prototype? I'd love to see the folding in action. What is the cup made of?

    Hey jblevinson,

Thanks for you questions. I don't have a prototype, I don't really have the resources to put one together, but if anybody out there is interested in helping to create one I'd love to collaborate. I would like to see the cup made out of recycled material, but even it were made of the same material as a standard coffee cup and people recycled/reused it, I think that's a step in the right direction.

The cup would have to fit in a cupholder, or nobody would use it, so to make up for that it would need to be taller than a current coffee cup. I'll add that to the description.

I love coupons! I love any way I can save money.
So if you are breaking down the cup.... we are partially responsible for the refuse we need to dispose of...and Starbucks would have to responsibly dispose of the voided coupon?
If I'm correct.. then it should be made of a recyclable or biodegradable material, right?
Also, it has to be sturdy enough to maintain the beverage....but easy enough that the consumer can take their coupon without frustration... otherwise the consumer may just say forget about the coupon. ( I wouldn't ...but somebody might)

....What about a cup that has a number/code/keyword that could be entered in on a site with a printable coupon? More sanitary, ya know : )

You are the first (as far as I have seen) to adress the disadvantages of the current empty cup and tried to solve it. Interesting approach.
