About reinforcement - Reinforcement would consist of essentially thickening the cup wall and adding a thicker layer of leak resistant inner coating. Also not that the mid section of cup would have an integrated insulation but not necessarily: The double cup reinforcement might inherently provide insulation.

Cup Stamp - Yes a special stamp will be used each time refill occurs. This is a no frills approach to recording refills

King/Queen Status - To understand award status one would need a basic understanding of how FourSquare works ( http://foursquare.com/ ). Accordingly 4SQ users are awarded Mayor of a given business based on the number of "check-in's" at given business. This idea instead proposes awarding King and Queen status to individuals with the most cup reuse stamps verified by Starbucks personnel at store where King/Queen status is sought.

Key to the concept is reuse and social functionality - being awarded King and Queen status is a honor a "Big Deal" that comes with many benefits. For instance head of the line privileges at any Starbucks store - Of course there will be freebies perhaps interviews a blog, etc. Then there is the constant threat of being dethroned. The discount is essentially an added benefit that all participants can partake of.

It must be stressed - Key to this idea is its social functionality that provides reward while encouraging reuse.

I'm a user of foursquare (although my mayorship count is limited) - my question was that since the cup has a pre-determined lifespan, would you have to keep the same one well past the 10 or so re-uses that were planned for?

@jblevinson - The goal is to "exceed" the pre-determined lifespan of 10 cup reuse-cycles. Thus the trick is in caring for ones cup to preserve it for max reuse. So the answer to you question is "yes" - One would have to keep their cup beyond the predetermined lifespan to:

    1. Obtain discount status
    2. Qualify as competitor for King/Queen of Cups

I have been conducting an experiment: I have been reusing a 20oz "double cup" - I am currently on my 7th reuse-cycle with no apparent cup deterioration.
The experiment is proving better than expected.

    Questions about the stickers:

Would the stickers stand up to repeated washing of the cup?

Would the stickers interfere with the process of recycling/repurposing the cup? (In the same way that recycling companies don't recycle soda bottles that still have the caps on them)

@aishaeveralive - No stickers will be used - rather a rubber stamp and ink pad stamp would be used (not a sticky stamp). Thanks for helping to clear that up. The caps or lids are currently recyclable - so they would (continue) to be recycled.

What a witty idea. I´d love to not only be comment queen but also cup queen of my hometown´s coffee-house (if it had any). ;o) I think I´d choose a free chocolate bar if I could.

I still don´t know what happens when my cup suddenly leaks. Will my crown be taken from me and I have to start as a housemaid again? Or is there any chance to inrease one´s realm?

What a shame your idea isn´t awake yet - here you are: 7* from me and off you go! ;o)
