i also like this idea heaps, and it's unfortunate that we now need to be discussing fairness in rating behavior again... but I do have to agree with Janne and kaptn, that systematic rating behavior is against jovoto's community culture and the very sportsmanlike behavior of our members.

Of course, newcomers aren't familiar with all the things we have discussed about and learned over the past years as a creative community.

I'd like to invite everyone who is interested in the subject of fair 'crowd'ratings to join the discussion over here:

    Thanks!

could be cool even using inductive heating in the base which eliminates physical contact points etc. may want to use a thermo chromic plastic lid to indicate temp or state of beverage. just thoughts. Nice idea.

Just not convinced that this can replace the to-go cup. Seems too bulky for anything less than a camping trip. I don't see the woman in New York dressed in her business suit and heels hauling this thermos shaped gadget down to Starbucks on her coffee break. It looks indestructible like someone big like Paul Bunyan would use it. In some ways it's a nice design for a big hearty individual with big hands (like me) but I'm afraid the ladies wouldn't think it very delicate. I'd like one for camping though.

i don't get why do people need their own kettle? if i buy a coffee or tea it should already be hot. and if i want hot water i can use a kettle or a microwave. this seems to complicate the matter even more.

also, i like ideas that make cups smaller, not larger. sorry.

What fuel are you using for this? Propane? Liquid gas? Bundles of twigs? Paraffin candle? Whale blubber? Miniature nuclear reactor? It would certainly help if you mentioned what the fuel was. How is this more efficient than heating a cup in a microwave, since microwaves are extremely energy-efficient? Since most offices have microwave ovens, it would probably be better for the environment if people in offices used those.

Also, I am not convinced that I would feel secure sitting in a bus or on a subway next to someone who was boiling water in their own personal mug. Or, for that matter, driving on a freeway next to someone who had just heated their beverage up to scalding temperatures. Drivers are distracted enough even when they haven't just spilled a scalding liquid on themselves.
