Sorry, your explanation is so long that I am really discouraged to even begin to read it...
Can´t you reduce it to a few crucial points and show them on the slides above? That would make it much easier for many of us - there are so many ideas here and it would be a pity to miss a good one just because nobody dares to read it. ;o)

    Hi Janne,

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Three key ideas:

    1. People generally don't know what the problem with paper cups is, so it needs to be given a name, such as the Missing Forest.
    2. Just having a nice reusable cup product on sale is not going to solve the problem.
    3. There needs to be a detailed plan for how to solve the problem, as outlined above.

    Kind regards,

    David

Thanks for answering, but of course I am not much wiser now. ;o)
I´d really appreciate a short outline of your idea that gives the quick reader a clue. Do you think that´s possible?

BTW - I like your claim - at least this I understood. ;o)

I have reviewed & rated you idea. Our retries are a step forward towards a greener planet with less waste. Please have a look at my idea and I greatly appreciate your opinion http://www.jovoto.com/contests/drink-sustainably/ideas/5237

@dmac... I took the time and read the whole thing... I love your approach... Hard truth, long...but straight to the point (lol... I feel like I'm getting a bunch of TWSS's for that )
    Anyway... Right on! 5 stars!

BTW... you helped me a few weeks ago with your opinion...and I have made some changes to my entry, I was wondering if you could review it again and see if your opinion has changed.

@Qvistar... you make me laugh! thanks for that!

You did a lot of work on this, and the fact that you deeply care about this problem is evident. I'd have to rate this with love!!

Finally I have managed to read your long description and didn´t regret it. ;o)
The two things I like best are

    1. the idea that towns and cities decide to become paper-cup-free. I don´t know about big cities, but in the small town I live there is a strong sense of "local" unity - so I could well imagine if someone brought up your idea, many would be willing to join in and boast that our town is the cleanest or greenest (whatever) town in the county.

    2. I also like the idea of not rewarding the reusable cup but "punishing" the disposable cup. It´s hard, but sometimes we just have to learn the hard way...

It´s a pity you didn´t find anyone helping you to illustrate your idea. It has much potential and I think the reason you got so little votes is chiefly that people are intimidatet to read such a long text. Which was my initial problem, too. ;o)

I hope, more people will take the time to read your concept - it´s well worth the effort!

By the way, I asked Greenpeace, which I'm a supporter of, to comment on the issue of paper cups - they tried to leave a comment but had problems logging into the site, so asked me to pass their comment on:

Our finite planet is incapable of supporting our disposable culture, and paper cups are a shocking example of our failure to understand that. If we want to leave our children the resources to have comfortable lives, the government, industry and the public will all need to do a lot of serious thinking about how to solve this kind of problem, and we’ll need to do it quickly.
