    @ Janne

    Mostly because I think people will adopt a system that has some built in forgiveness. Cleaning those lids is a pain, and the sleeve would hopefully last at least a few uses (until they wore out or become otherwise unusable).

    What if you lose the lid? The Sleeve? The average cup is essentially useless.

    @Jhanna

    I admit ignorance to some of the greater costs (both economically and ecologically) of these materials, my background lies in the advertising field. You do bring up some good points.

    Lets not get lost in the details at this stage of the process; the big idea isn't necessarily locked into the specific materials—imo. It's not just a new cup design. ECOmpromise is about changing the behavior of both the coffee drinkers and the companies that sell the coffee, and by encouraging a system of cooperation we can help lessen the impact on our environment.

    The nuts and bolts:
    1. A reusable cup that's suited for hot or cold beverages

    2. The lid needs to function as both a "hot drink sipper" and a "cold drink straw" style lid. It should also be reusable for a time, but ultimately of a semi-permanent nature. The idea being that those individuals whom choose to "go the extra mile" could reuse it multiple times and those who are unable for what ever reason can easily replace it next purchase.

    This could even lead into some promotional contests, such as: How many times can you use your lid(or sleeve)?

    3. These sleeves might seem a bit strange at first notice, however some serious thought has gone into this aspect of the concept. Sleeves by nature require space to fulfill their function; double walls, foams and other cellular forms are often used. This air space is a double edged sword because the added volume needs to be accounted for in both storage and shipping. An inflatable sleeve can be packed significantly tighter than a traditional paper sleeve and therefore stored more efficiently. By making them taller and increasing the maximum airspace (by inflation) we make them even more efficient than traditional sleeves.

    Yes, you could also make the sleeve reusable--I would think that an eco-friendly sleeve that was also semi-permanent would appeal to the widest portions of society.

    Changing the average person's morning routine is a challenging endeavor, but making it as painless as possible is going to be the key to success. ECOmpromise takes the "bring your cup" movement that many have begun to embrace and presents it in a way that is easily implemented at POP, affordable and easy to understand.

    Thanks for the great feedback!

    i am still confused as to why the lids/sleeves are made to be disposable in the end. why not just make the sleeves and lids be re-usable and have them stay with the cup? do customers get a discount for using this cup?

    The lids... you say they are biodegradable...so how many times can we reuse them before they start to show weakness or wear and tear?

    @sweetmelissa9978

    The lids, depending on care and use, maybe a week or so I should think. User judgment should come into the reuse.
