I am from Europe, Lithuania. It is not easy to express my idea for me in English and I do not have a presentation. But I am aware about the environment as much as you guys are and I think it is a good idea and it can reduce the usage of recycled cups.
My idea is to have separate prices for customers who use their own mugs, such as travel mugs.
How this will work: there should be a 24 hour record of the amount of coffee bought with personal mugs. This should be done by a special program. It will automatically display the price of coffee for each buyer depending on the amount of cups of coffee sold for the period of 24 hours from that moment.
The price of coffee in a personal mug could be anywhere between the same price as in a disposable cup to smaller that it by the price of the disposable cup and more (profitability should be counted up by specialists in the specific area). Moreover, the more coffee to personal mugs was bought in the last 24 hours from this moment (or, for example, in the last week), the smaller the price would be.
Example: A client in a café sees 2 prices for coffee. Coffee in disposable cups costs (as an example) $5 and this price doesn’t change, but in a personal cup it’s $4.7. The current price - $4.7 is counted up by a program, which at the moment of sale counts how many coffees were sold in a personal mug in the last 24 hours. Obviously, the more was sold, the cheaper the coffee. When it’s the next customer’s turn, the price could change, as there would be a new count up of 24 hours and the amount of sold coffees could now be different.
This way, in different cafes there would be different prices for coffee to personal mugs and this will show how much work these cafes are doing to promote the use of personal mugs.
The customers would go to those cafes more, where this coffee is cheaper and this would attract to this game not only the customers, but the managers of the cafes as well.
