Let's face it. People like walking around with their Starbucks cup; I know I do. I agree with the comments that people in general don't like to use a reusable cup. For me, it's because my coffee tastes different. Others may have their own reasons. With that in mind, I'm keeping it familiar and am not veering too far away from the traditional look and feel of the paper cup...but it's different enough to make a difference!
The message on the cup is a reminder about its sustainable attributes:
"I am a cup that will ALWAYS go where I go…
…and will NEVER go in the landfill,
that will ALWAYS keep my drink hot...
…and will NEVER contribute to global warming,
that will ALWAYS be compostable or decompose…
…and will NEVER end up in our earth, air, or water."
There are three parts to this idea, corresponding to the three parts of a truly sustainable product: environmental attributes, social responsibility, and economic viability.
1. Environmental attributes: The cup and the lid are made from 100% renewable sugarcane fiber, bamboo, and reed pulp. It is high heat tolerable (for "extra hot" and tea) and sturdy enough to be rinsed out and reused multiple times. At the end of its use it can be composted or will biodegrade. Since it is difficult to get people to bring in their own mugs, at least if these end up in the trash, it's not toxic to the earth.
2. Social responsibility: To borrow a concept from Whole Foods Market, when a customer brings in this cup (or any reusable cup) 10 cents will be contributed to a local charity. (Starbucks can determine if they want each store to choose their own charity, or if the corporation chooses one national charity. ) I recommend each store choose their own charity, and change it every month or every quarter. People are more likely to participate if their contribution is going to a local cause.
3. Economic viability: There are several manufacturers of this type of material, and on average there is only about a 10 cents/cup difference in cost. If the cups are sold for the 10 cents difference and are reusable, it would be an easy upsell. And certainly more economical (than a $10 or $12 reusable mug), and more environmentally friendly (see #1), and will contribute to the community (see #2).

I advise you to tell your kind friends to have a look around and to objectively (!) rate other entries as well, as this community is a social one (until now...) and is about taking and giving. Would be appropriate for you to do the same - your contribution is from May 24th and you haven´t rated any entry yet...
Hope I didn´t offend you - your entry is okay - I just want to encourage you to give back to the community what it has given to you. ;o)

1 idea medal lids
2 idea this is not a mug
the first is about a gadget to carry in a shape of medal
2 is about a new starbucks recyclable cup, I suggest starbucks to make a new recyclable foldable cup follow my spec.
Now that you know what is about, please tell me how many idea are similar to mine.
By the way, I did not rate you because I wish you vote me back (this is the game in this contest) but just because after I saw your comment and after I check your Idea I tought that your idea deserve to be seen before the end of the contest, and this is what I get back :-(
Anyway no problem but before you make a comment check better because I did many comments and rates

Your own ideas, wwwbankok I did rate and comment several weeks ago. When I looked to CMarie´s profile (I always do, when someone is new to me - no control intended...), I saw that she didn´t rate or comment anyone´s idea. This is what makes me concerned - there are several people here, who claim to have their idea rated and commented but aren´t willing to do the same. This is not beneficial for the community imo.
Now perhaps I misunderstood you - you can write me a pm if you wish, to clear this up. Wish you a beautiful Sunday. ;o
