Thanks for the feedback Daniel. Actually you don't have to carry a full size holder. A folding holder would work great. I think you are right about designing a great container+ foldable-holder combo. But I had 3 issues.

1.- I don't think I had time or resources to fully develop a "perfect" holder.

2.- Even if such "perfect" holder was achieved some people may like it and some may hate it. Thats why I decided to create a system that allowed versatility, enabling designers to create awesome stuff using my container as a starting point and without worrying about cleaning and leaks.

3.- When given freedom, people can create great stuff. Instead of imposing a design of my own, this system opens the doors to designs i would have never imagined. Like yours.

The cleaning is actually a big deal. If you could have the holder lying around your car or purse or even as a key ring it could become something natural to use. Something you don't need to be concerned about.

Glad you liked the video :)

Dcanon- Its bio degradable in case its not put in the recycle bin. I didn't think about it as being reusable.

    bonibom- glad you like :)

Interesting idea. I like the versatile designs of your cup holders. What about a lid? Will it be biodegradeable, too, or would you rather combine it with the holder? Personally I´d prefer a reusable cup though - nothing to waste and you can use it for other drinks as well. But your idea has potential. ;o)

That seems like an excellent rationale to me - and given that I also worked alone, i know how difficult it is to get every aspect of the system fully developed. You should have a shot at finalizing a few crazy holders yourself though when you get time - that sounds like the most enjoyable part to design! Good luck in the comp - hopefully the rating system starts to make more sense by the end of the week - nearly all of my favourite ideas are not as high as I would have hoped.

This idea actually seems...fun! Whether you design the holders or let the customer come up with ideas, it will be interesting to see what develops! :)

As long as different sizes are available...this is a good avenue to travel down. There is still a cup to throw away...but as long as there is a way to educate the consumer regarding how to dispose of the biodegradable component... (which would most likely be the responsibility of the establishment) ... I don't see why this couldn't be something worth trying! : )

Daniel: Glad to see my ideas make sense to you, I feel your pain about the rating system. Hope it gets better when more people vote at the end of the week.

KDragonBlend: Glad you liked it !

Elissa: I think consumers will be a lot more aware of their habits with this cup.
With paper cups the coffee shop is telling the costumer " Here's your coffee, don't worry about anything else"

Using this cup, and requiring the consumer to separate the cup before recycling is sending a different message " We provide a cardboard holder for you, but if you bring your own you could use a lot less resources without compromise"

This could also lead to a future widespread adoption of travel mugs or a similar product where there's no cup to throw away.

I like your idea becouse you offer more than one solution, so people can choose what they like. Very nice cup-design too!
    Good luck.

P.S. I would appreciate if you take a look and comment my ZocDoc ideas. Thanks!

I am very convinced of this two-part structure because it combines the best of both worlds: The cleanliness of the disposable- and the green aspect of the bring-in cups. Very strong idea!

I totally agree with danieltreacy- a permanent folding holder would work really well with this idea! Good luck.
