I think there are so many amazing submissions in this contest. In my opinion, there are four winners which i'm giving each of them ratings of 10:

as with ipods or any electronic gadgets, if i'm going to carry something in my pocket, i want something simple and beautiful, just like the "Cup to Keep" by Cup to Keep which is probably the most aesthetically pleasing of all the collapsible cup ideas...

i will then use "Clean Cup" by Along to clean these reusable cups simply because the machine seems easy and fun to use. They look beautiful yet non-intruding in any public interior space...

there will be times i cannot carry reusables or might simple forget them at home. But no worries, i have the option of using "The Neutral Resource Coffee Cup" by Aaron Levine which seems most viable and well researched amongst the biodegradable ideas...

and when done with these disposables, I will simply dispose them at the "Starbucks Cupfee" by Biganuradesa which is easily recognized and entertaining to use. I will receive some coins back just for disposing them there while feeling good that these cups will soon become composted in an efficient manner.

I really like this idea, especially because it's not just another design for an eco coffee cup (as per the design brief!)

I think it'd work very well in conjunction with a collapsible cup. If I could carry around a coffee cup in my handbag, clean it before I get another drink, or when I get back to the office, then I would never use a paper cup, because i'd always have it with me. The main barrier to reusable cups for me is forgetting to bring one, as well as never having a clean one. Having both problems solved would make it easy for me.

Good work, love the idea, hope to see it at my local coffee place soon :D

If the device were to malfunction...what is the back up plan? This is a great concept. A unique idea with a very cool look to it.

A proof of concept will be helpful in knowing the effectiveness of the product. Well done!

Great idea and well designed. Would be good for cleaning your own cup before having it filled again. Then the hygenic issue would be secondary...

This is a very appealing idea that fits into its own niche - neither the reusable nor the disposable option. Although I agree with some of the comments about public health issues- an people being comfortable with it all. Why not just get the barista to do it- but then, if you get the barista to do it, then how is it a viable alternative to the dishwashers already in place?

That said, I think the self-service concept is really cool and hope that machine takes off! Good luck and apologies for the comment (and high rating!) so close to the end of the competition.

Hi, i wasn't initially a huge fan of the cleaning concepts out there, but this seems to be very thoroughly thought out, and a very practical addition to how we drink coffee. It kind of reminds me of the cleaning docks that some electric razors have. I do see issues with public perception of sharing a cleaning device, but you are at least considering that, and it would be pretty great to have a home or office version. The best part is that you're still keeping the cup private, which to me is the most important part of winning over the public - i think cleaning cups by putting them in locally collected cleaning bins is asking for too much trust perhaps (as well as the assumption that people for some reason buy takeaway, then go drink near the store regardless). Good luck!

    Dear All,

we'll use the next 48h to check all ratings again. The rating status of community members with strategic or manipulative rating behaviour will be put on false, hence their ratings won't count anymore. We will then re-activate the tallying of the votes and present the final result.
So please, have a little more patience and enjoy the leisure time (you at least have some ;-)

    Best wishes from sunny Berlin
