Encourages coffee drinkers to recycle both paper and plastic cups, lids and straws.
the inspiration:
Inspried by umbrella plastic bag dispensers common in Asia and abroad.
using betacup recycle station:
1. Pour leftover liquids or ice into the rear waste container.
2. Push paper cups into the paper cup holder.
3. Push plastic cups into the plastic cup holder.
4. Plastic lids and straws go into the remaining waste container.
special notes:
* each waste container is lined with a quick tie bag, so when full the cafe staff may easily remove tubes of waste or cups. All waste is sorted and ready for recycle.
* the station removes barriers to sustainable behavior by making recycling easy and fast.
* incredibly easy to implement.
** the bottom line:
6.5 million cups used every day. Imagine that we could recycle 10% to start, 650,000 cups. Imagine that we could then raise this to 20%, 1.3 million cups. We move towards sustainability with small steps and then larger steps, empower coffee drinkers by making early goals achievable!
