I focused on presenting the concept that
customers bring reusable supporting material while starbucks only provides disposable thin coated water proof paper. Inner material can be same material that regular cups use. but much thinner since it doesn't need a structure of a paper cup

Let's say regular paper cups need 5g of tree to build its structure + 1g coated thin paper inside for waterproof. Total  6g of tree will be wasted.
If customers carry leaf cup they don't need 5g for structure.
All they need and waste is 1g of tree and that is the part you can save tree while you don't have to sacrify too much of convenience or sanitary

    thanks andrealimida
You are right and I appreciate it.

i think this idea is great and you showed a lot of consideration!

just a few questions that pass through my mind

    i agree with Berkana's concerns
i think you should make a real mock up to see if the form works or not
the rendering looks great and very smart of you to use motion images
it really helps us to understand it better

i am a bit worry that with the leaf form, it may not close up properly and the bottom of the cup may be fragile or unbalanced when put on a flat surface

i like the idea of using velcro, yet that's only one of the solution
somehow, i don't feel velcro fits with honeycomb paper material
maybe there are more ways to attach both ends?
    ex. experiment with other forms

or maybe the form doesn't revolve from one end to another
it could be pull up and push down?(vertical axis) a spring-like form?
which could also be easy to carry

i think the design/idea is great
perhaps the next stage is also to think about how would this work in real world

    the marketing
what else could you add or take away to make the users want to carry this with them?

    finally,
why will this design make change? can you take this further?
ps. i know you've already mention about the reduce usage of materials

    keep up the good work!

great job researching the problem in a very direct way to come up with a simple but effective solution.

have you prototyped and tested this idea?

    Thanks msiboni
I tried to make a honeycomb by myself but it doesn't look right, so I asked sample of honeycomb material for prototype.

I considered velcro, magnet, snap button, elastic bend and zipper. Velcro might not be ideal since there is some chance that it doesn't fit perfect (if one end and the other end doesn't match exactly) then, shape and function of cup wouldn't work properly. But I thought that it would be the easiest way to attach to the honeycomb and maintain the form well.

    I definately considered vertical axis.
(spring like? form )It is commonly used in many area such as camping water bottle. I think it is okay for water. But if it applies to coffee, it would be very hard to clean.

Thank you for thorough ciritique, emily.
