¡GET HIP ~ REUSE!
There is no question that Reusing is more efficient and more sustainable than recycling.
The drinking cup is without a doubt one of human kind’s oldest tools-perhaps the oldest tool. It is logical that the ideal vessel for any possible use has long since been designed and used so we probably don’t need to invent the ideal drinking cup, we merely need to rediscover and perhaps repurpose it.
It’s been noted that the problem up till now with reusable cups has been one of marketing. People, when on the go, more often than not prefer throw away cups. More than marketing, the problem is one of functionality. When people are mobile, cups take up too much space to carry around, they don’t fit in a pocket or handbag, when full they use up one of our two hands and spill easily. Cups are just not the answer.
Clearly this is not a new problem and there is a vessel that has been around for a long time that fits in a pocket, handbag, and can hang on a strap or a belt. They are already being made up to 18 ounce capacity. So, at this point, it does come to a matter of marketing. How to motivate people to do the right thing and save enormous amounts of energy by reusing their coffee drinking vessels. To get with the program. Perhaps it’s destiny, but in this case we have a vessel whose very name resonates with understanding and cognizance. The Hip Flask.
Modified for hot drinks with a liner, a flexible seal so the entire top or bottom can be removed for cleaning, and a wider throat or perhaps a concave top with a sliding opening; the Hip Flask solves the ergonomic problems for a portable drinking vessel. It’s functional and it’s, well... , hip!

I guess in order to "sell" your concept, you'd definitely have to move away from the traditional hip flask look, which is biased with, well, alcoholics.. That poses a considerable obstacle, even your initial target group comprises mainly young people.
In theory, I do like the removable bottom though!

Nice thinking outside the box!! :)

How does the top or the bottom attach/detach to the device? My concern about cups that come apart into several pieces with joints under the liquid line is that they might just fall apart while filled with hot liquid.

It is a groups goal towards eco-friendly design not for individuals. we are a bunch of eco-conscious people working towards better tomorrow. Nice particpating.
@Berkana view is very logical. But i guess each of us who presented the idea are only half baked concept. this discussion during the follow days will help refining our idea better.

The important part of the design is that it can be carried full of liquid in a pocket, handbag, or on a strap and that due to the kidney shaped-flat profile it is much less cumbersome. Very few of the proposals have these features, especially carrying the vessel while full.
While hip flasks have been used for alcohol probably everywhere, I think the extent of the stigma may be regional. I am from the Pacific region and to tell the truth, the actual use of hip flasks is extremely rare. If Starbucks marketed an updated and clearly repurposed version I don't think there will be any problem at all, I've designed a different throat and spout from the traditional one that will alter the visual perception of the flask.
I'm confident that a system that allows the top or bottom to be removed, yet not ever leak liquids is well within our technical capabilities.
Thanks for the input!

But flask should be redesigned, becouse I wouldn't like to be looked at like alcoholic when I drink coffee :)
It is very practical (as you axplained), it just needs some coffee-like design.
Good luck!
P.S. I would appreciate if you take a look and comment my ZocDoc ideas. Thanks!
