very interesting idea!well thought out. good luck trying to get "staff" to wash your cup. if the cup washing stations others have suggested are avalible that would solve this issue.

    Thank you.

So sorry for the draft, anyway my main focus is to make it slim and neat package.

Yeah, staff may find it a hassle to wash for every individual customer. Washing Cup station is a good idea provided that it has a steaming function incorporated as that will eliminate using dish detergents.

Whenever I travel, I hate to carry anything extra, so I like how your cup flattens and can be easily stored.

I agree totally especially when travelling by air, space becomes a precious commodity as we are always fighting that limited supply of air inside our luggage.

May I also suggest that the place of origin (country/city) and a cultural pattern be embossed on the cup so that travellers would be able use on any Starbucks outlet in any cities. Starbuck would honour them by giving a small discount as a token of appreciation for saving a tree.

I believe that would certainly bring out the identity of the cup and generate a good rapport between Starbuck and the customers.

I like the saucer idea, but I have problems to understand your folding mechanism... How often do you think your cup can be used?

Regarding the folding mechanism, think of it as a box with 2 open ends and it uses the box contours (sharp angles) to acts as hinges thus giving that folding actions. Once open with the design ribbed at the bottom facing downwards, drinker just needs to press (click) onto the saucer.

The precision-molded cup can be used everyday since it is make of PP and the drinkers just need to fold them into the saucer with the cover (red) in between them. The size should not be bigger than a PSP, making it handy, compact and self-contained.

I believe one of the reasons that drinker do not want to bring cup to any coffee outlet is the cumbersome shape and size. Which leads me onto tackling the SPACE issue. I hope just simply by changing the shape/size & the way of storage, everyone would be carrying one in their bag everyday 24/7 without thinking as a hassle.

With this design plus a good incentive program, coffee drinker and the provider will see it as a win-win. Of course the effects ripple throughout and will definitely help reduce wastes which will leads back to the less trees being cut.
