iBrick
iBrick the most advanced soil stabilised brick available

Solution

iBrick looks back on the use of soils in building and then to science for inspiration. Using nanotech polymer resin technology the most advanced and durable adobe based system has been developed.

iBrick uses hydaulic compression to produce an interlocking soil stabilised brick, with the capacity to carry vertical and horizontal reinforcement; light electrical and plumbing.

Doesn't require plastering. iSeal is part of the solution and is applied with a handheld pressure sprayer.

Uses up to 60% less cement in the superstructure than conventional brick and mortar.

Requires soils with a minimum 7% PI (clay content) - in Africa this equates to 95% compatibility.

Uses iMortar also derived from the polymer resin used in the brick production, this replaces conventional mortar and provides a watertight seal between courses.

iBrick has full SABS and Agrement certification for use in residential housing, surpassing the requirements of alternative building system tests comfortably.

Provides superior thermo-acoustic properties due to the natural materials used.

The collective resin input costs are less than USD 0.07 per brick. With the clawback of the machine on annual production of over 660 000 bricks works out at approximately USD 0.10 per brick.

Building costs with 100% free material and sweat equity of labour superstructure building costs can be kept under USD 7.50 / sqm.

iBrick providing a home not just a shelter.
