Bring affordable housing to the worlds poor. $25,000 prize pool
Hybrid House
Hybrid structure Thermal mass + Lightweight configurable structure
Initial design: The basic concept of
the design is to utilize the basic materials that are typical available. The house
would be a hybrid compressed earth block and lightweight wood/metal. A lower course
of earth block, can be varied in height so that not all of the houses look
exactly the same. Also the earth bock can be used on the interior to build the
stove and other furniture. On top of the earth block sits a wooden frame with operable
wood shutters. This would allow for the houses to utilize cross breezes. The
roof is corrugated metal which was chosen for it availability and reliability.
The roof is a simple shed roof that allows hot air to follow the slop up and out.
