Germany 2024 - Infinite Euphoria
Building up excitement for a Euro hosted by Germany.

Solution

First of all, the infinity sign is quite an aesthetically pleasing form in my opinion. But additionally, it symbolises the infinite passion and enthusiasm that all fans have for the sport - trying to hit home at the requirement of creating 'euphoria' and building 'anticipation before a big festival'. To a certain extent, this is also done by the heart-shaped centre circle in the football pitch graphic. Having said this, I would argue that the main symbolism of the heart in such a position is that of showing the love and emotion that football creates - and how Germany can be the perfect host country for this to unfold. This is inevitably also where the German flag and the Brandenburg Gate come in, as they are perfect icons of Germany in my opinion.

Additionally, this was all done in a fun way, juxtaposing the bold infinity sign and font with the more friendly, almost child-like, images inside the infinity sign. This, I hope, gives off a joint impression of Germany as up to the task of hosting such a prestigious event, whilst remaining friendly, approachable and open.

Please describe the creative approach you took to your design

I started from the infinity sign - this was to be the object people are initially drawn to (the important symbolism of which I have described above). Then I sought to fill this with meaning - and this was done by placing important images of the German and footballing world; I chose the Brandenburg gate, the German flag and the heart/centre circle part of the pitch.

Please explain how you incorporated the messages, values and mandatory elements outlined above into your design

I believe that some of this has already been covered in the above sections, but I draw your attention to the following elements:

The infinity sign; this is chiefly concerned with euphoria and enthusiasm - the infinite passion of the fans for the game they love.

The heart-shaped centre circle; again a reference to euphoria, but also to community and Germany as a perfect, cosmopolitan host.

Gate/Flag; these set the scene for the community to come together and for the euphoria to overflow.

Why should your design become the logo for the bidding phase?

I believe that it is a fairly unique design in the way that it blends together various symbols and icons to create a professional-looking logo for Germany to apply to host Euro 2024. In particular, I like the heart-shaped centre circle and the use of the infinity sign.
