My logo starts from a spark, that with the colors of the german flag creates an open hand. Then the colors like a wave form a happy heart conveying enthusiasm and passion, then a second hand, which together with the first one suggests togetherness and unity. The hands hold the soccer ball, which in the middle of everything represent the source of inspiration.
Please describe the creative approach you took to your design
At first I sketched the basic design with pencil on paper. Then I started working at the digital version from the hand at the bottom, inspired by a spark, defining it with the german colors. Then I worked on the second hand to create a circle and realized that I preferred leaving it with a simple silhouette, in order to keep the logo fresh. I also had the idea of breaking the colors into different elements, completing the design with the red jumping heart and the black hexagons for the ball.
Please explain how you incorporated the messages, values and mandatory elements outlined above into your design
The hand at the base of the design carries the colors of the german flag. Then the same colors like in a wave create new shapes: a jumping heart, red, inspires euphoric passion; the yellow forms another hand, mirror and complement to the first one that with it makes an embrace, conveying a sense of unity and togetherness; finally the black creates the iconic pentagons of the soccer ball, in the middle of the whole design, since it's soccer that inspires our excitement and brings us together.
Why should your design become the logo for the bidding phase?
Because it embodies the values of the UEFA without being obvious. It suggests excitement and dynamism in the shapes without showing silhouettes of soccer players running; it portrays a soccer ball within the simplicity of three hexagons; it expresses unity without depicting small people exulting together. It's coherent and elegant but also fresh and original.
