The idea of the logo is to remind everyone that Football is not about winning, but its about Union.

Solution

My concept, tells a story about celebrating union and love, illustrating 3 different stages - "Germany", "The Ball" and "The union of Nations".

The Germany symbol is a reference to Germany as a friendly, cosmopolitan and cheerful host. With the colors of Germany flag, this visual part is the base of the whole logo, and should illustrate Germany as the host of this union, the European Championship.

The Ball symbol is a reference to football and the European Championship. On the logo, the ball is the visual element between the Germany flag reference and the Europeon nations reference because no matter what is the purpose, all the nations should stay together.

The union of Nations is represented by hands and is a reference to the sense of community & union. It’s not about the glory of competing and winning. Its about sharing and creating strings between nations. So, every hand should represent a group of nations, different colors because every nation has a different culture, and should be part of the big festival that is the Euro Championship. The little dots around the hands, should represent the sharings between nations. The culture and the love shared between all the nations. This part is the top part of the logo, because, the love & the union of the nations is the main purpose of the European Championship.

Please describe the creative approach you took to your design

I have made a research about basic symbols that illustrate union, communitty, love and football. After collecting some references i have started to skecth some drafts, and slowly mixing the progress between all the references-

Please explain how you incorporated the messages, values and mandatory elements outlined above into your design

The hands and the dots, are references to the union of the nations and community. Each hand represents a group of nations, sharing culture & love. building trust and respect. With a heart in the middle because love is the center of everyting. The ball element is a reference to the football game, and is above the union/hands layer. Because football is just the excuse to share love and to build a community. Finally the base layer is about Germany, being the host of this celebration.

Why should your design become the logo for the bidding phase?

Because i trully believe that my logo illustrate the message that Germany wants to share.
