The Euro2024 is much more than just another sports event. It unites and strengthens Europe as a culturally diverse community and fosters respect, peace and trust among participating nations. My idea celebrates this sense of community, passion and euphoria shared by millions of fans. The design distances itself from cliché imagery and instead uses vibrant colours and dynamic geometric shapes as an innovative reference to football.
Please describe the creative approach you took to your design
The playing field is subdivided into its pure shapes. Similar to a jigsaw puzzle, the scattered pieces create a bigger picture when joined together. To give them an extended meaning, they have been transformed to shape the number 24 (as in 2024 and 24 nations) in part 1 and a football in part 2. The possibility of further additions with other creations are of course endless.
Please explain how you incorporated the messages, values and mandatory elements outlined above into your design
Uniting pieces, bringing together people and welcoming guests from all over Europe is what makes the concept of Euro2024 as a sports event so powerful. My logo demonstrates the importance of community shared by 24 participating nations and millions of Europeans. The colourful visual language also communicates a number of other positive attributes including fun, passion and euphoria as requested in the brief.
Why should your design become the logo for the bidding phase?
I believe this design would be an appropriate and convincing visual identity for presenting Germany as a Candidate to host Euro2024. It is playful, yet still very minimalistic and simple, makes good use of the black, red and yellow colour scheme and provides a great potential for further development into posters, merchandise, uniforms, etc. I believe the football field as a metaphor for joining communities and connecting people is a perfectly plausible reference to Euro2024.
