It is a physical representation of an e-book (material: wooden/aluminium) with an internal RFID chip, allowing to interact physical and digital worlds. It has a magnetic surface to simplify its use, storage and display.
What is the core principle of your idea?
Put the e-book device on an interactive multiuser table (touchscreen) and it work as key/controller to display (book teaser, review, metadata, related books) and to navigate (i.e. leafing the e-book) the digital content . It also works as an e-book browser app, to find the physical locaton of e-books in the bookstore or book fair. For consumers, it can be used as a key to access digital content from multiple platforms and as a physical and aesthetics representation of their personal library
Can your idea be applied to different formats (in a bookstore, at a trade fair, at a conference)?
Yes. The e-book device, bookcases and touchscreen table are modular allowing to adapt the concept in many space formats.
Would it be possible to turn your idea into a reality, or at least create a prototype of it, at short notice, i.e. by the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2014?
Yes. the concept and components are based on technologies and technical issues that actually exists.
What do you estimate the costs for the prototype or the final implementation of your idea to be?
