eCube: touchscreen table based on ISBN-A data in an entertaining interface
Making eBook research and buying more lively and interactive by using an existing tool: the ISBN-A

As eCube is the new selling point for e-books in the bookshop (or on other places like universities, fairs e.g.) the publishers are obliged to set up an ISBN-A for every title they want to sell as eBook and put relevant informations on the titlecard. It is a way to advertise the ISBN-A towards the publisher and the client. Our Interface runs on a touchscreen with integrated headphones and a payment function. Payment is done via ec-card. Client gets link by mail and code is printed out on desk.

What is the core principle of your idea?

Two possible scenarios: The client scans the ISBN of a printed book or the client is just starting the research himself. The start screen offers the possibility to advertise certain titles (refinancing the system). The diffferent theme sections can be introduced by recommendations of the bookseller (audiofiles possible). The title page shows the eBook-Data in the middle and all available further informations around so that the client can discover the title and directly buy (

Can your idea be applied to different formats (in a bookstore, at a trade fair, at a conference)?

Yes, of course.

Would it be possible to turn your idea into a reality, or at least create a prototype of it, at short notice, i.e. by the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2014?

Yes. Probably not an interactive one but one that shows different screens to demonstrate the functions.

What do you estimate the costs for the prototype or the final implementation of your idea to be?

Not yet.
