It’s a multimedia presentation, with an ebook abstract and text or photos contained in a single screen. The contents are composed by information about the author and a representative extract of ebook contents. It's a kiosk with a pc desktop all-in-one with a 22" or 24" monitor, fixed on the wall, and a frosted plexiglass panel with at least ten ebook covers, combined each one with a proximity sensor. The hand approaches to the desired cover and the specific sheet appears on the screen.
What is the core principle of your idea?
A presentation controlled by a proximity sensor interfaced with pc. Presentation is not interactive and limited to the information that the Editor wants to give. If linked to internet or to the local network: - digital sheets can be easily changed online by the Editor (not the cover, that is printed and attached on the panel); - an email can be sent to the Editor with a report about the interest to every ebook (reading time and number of times viewed - it can be used to refine the marketing
Can your idea be applied to different formats (in a bookstore, at a trade fair, at a conference)?
Yes, everywhere with this configuration. In a bookstore can be combined with the other my idea (published in this contest): "A card with two codes". It can be easily used by people on wheelchair.
Would it be possible to turn your idea into a reality, or at least create a prototype of it, at short notice, i.e. by the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2014?
Yes, if all software solutions and implementation are solved.
What do you estimate the costs for the prototype or the final implementation of your idea to be?
