Bookcover 3.0: Gateway to your local bookstore.


As sales and consultation needs personal contact, we bring booksellers in contact to their customer, where customers have their reading-experience: in the book. A smartphone is attached inside the bookcover. Via Skype, the customer can get into contact with his local bookstore. The bookseller can give advices about new books, provide previews and sells books. As you can leave video-messages, you are independend from a simultanious conversation, but you still can have personal consultation.

What is the core principle of your idea?

Instead of bringing the digital medium into the physical book stores, we bring the physical consultation in the digital medium.

Can your idea be applied to different formats (in a bookstore, at a trade fair, at a conference)?

It could. But the main point is to rethink the customer relationship between booksellers (and perhabs the authors as well) and the reader.

Would it be possible to turn your idea into a reality, or at least create a prototype of it, at short notice, i.e. by the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2014?

Yes. You just need a beautiful hardcover for your ebook, your smartphone, skype, and your favorite local book store (and perhaps a tesa-powerstrip).

What do you estimate the costs for the prototype or the final implementation of your idea to be?

Version 1: You have to cutsomize a hardcover for your eBook with a device which retain your mobile. Version 2: You have to cutsomize a hardcover for your eBook with a display which connects with your smartphone.
