Token - Something real representing the chains of numbers we actually buy. Something to hold; nice proportions 50 x 50 x 6 mm, nice weight a bit heavier than one may expect. Something to collect. Modules - Bigger space for lit communication designed to combine both the exposition and Pos function. Two sizes; A4 and A5 to build any stand one desires. Other bits of the system - A3 module of touch-screen, big LCD, Side and corner frames, floor bases and many others possible...
Solution
What is the core principle of your idea?
To communicate and sale something tangible in a most flexible ie. modular way.
Can your idea be applied to different formats (in a bookstore, at a trade fair, at a conference)?
The modular character of the system allows any format from the counter or hand display to big walls or whole stands.
Would it be possible to turn your idea into a reality, or at least create a prototype of it, at short notice, i.e. by the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2014?
A prototype of some example of the floor stand would be possible.
What do you estimate the costs for the prototype or the final implementation of your idea to be?
3000-5000 Euro for The Two sided 20 modules stand (the price of manufacturing in Krakow Poland)
Hi Simon - Really great design as always! Could the module someway have another use - that would somehow make the user "handle" it.. Good luck!
Everything is possible, the system is quite flexible. Thank You!
Great idea, Simon. OK...maybe the USB-Stick has to be changed since many readers don't accept standard USB connectors... but that should be easy to accomplish, right? Maybe even some sort of an NFC funtionality would be cool? Anyway...great stuff... well done!
Hi In Design, Usb can be just as one of the ways of data transmition. Thanks!
Hey Simon,
Thanks for your submission!
You're coming up with a modular system to make digital content visible and tangible in physical space, you also want to create "Something to hold". Great that you got the direction of the project right!
Your Tokens work with USB, hopefully your draft attract enough attention, cause we've lots of USB variations on the market already!
Your sketches reminds me in a toy I've seen a few days ago. It was a miniature version of Lego.
Maybe your idea would also work in a small and cute alternative - all the bricks become kind of a "Token" - and will get even more unique when playing or collection it…
What do you think?
Curious about your answers :)
Best, David
As for usb, it can be just one of many ways to transfer the data!
