As you know the red disc in the flag of Japan represents the sun. And in eclipse the sun stays behind the moon which doesn't let it to shine enough to light our world. Today Japan is in the same situation, they are still there, but unable to shine because of a natural disaster. But there is no doubt that they will arise soon.
