Tropical Garden
A simple photographic pattern inspired by tropical palm trees in an artificial environment.

This bold pattern is designed digitally from a photograph, with squares resembling the grids or a trellis of a real garden wall. The large scale of the pattern makes it possible for unrepeated use, but it could be scaled down too. Please note each of my designs have three images: the single repeat unit, the maximum scale at 164 cm fabric width, and a detailed closeup of the pattern. All sizes are real, but the resolution has been reduced to 96 dpi for web use.

Why does your design stand out?

This design is using only a few colours that catch the eye and the evenly placed squares give it a contemporary edge, making it perfect for loose, comfortable summer garments. I think this design is great for both large and small scale patterns, both as a large surface, or a cutout for a small detail on a garment (e.g. pockets.) The details of this pattern are very photographic with very little manipulation, trying to keep as much as possible of the tropical atmosphere.

Which kind of brands do you imagine using your design?

Modern fast fashion brands, who sell original designs to women such as TopShop, Zara, Mango, Glamorous, H&M etc.
