Palmhouse
A photographic geometric pattern inspired by windows glass houses for palm trees.
1/3

Solution

Palm trees are often placed in glass houses called "palmhouses", an artificial environment for these tropical plants. The geometry of the windows of these houses inspired the repeating elements of my pattern. Please note each of my designs have three images: the single repeat unit, the maximum scale at 164 cm fabric width, and a detailed closeup of the pattern. All sizes are real, but the resolution has been reduced to 96 dpi for web use.

Why does your design stand out?

This pattern is a bold mixture of geometry and photographs, with an interesting cut-out effect and also a tongue-in-cheek reference to 1970s geometric designs and Hawaii-patterns. This makes it a perfect fabric for loose fit, summer garments, even on a sheen fabric. It works well with large scales and large surfaces such as kimonos or dresses, but also works on a smaller scale, or without repeat on T-Shirt.

Which kind of brands do you imagine using your design?

Fast-fashion chains selling contemporary womenswear, such as TopShop, Zara, Mango, Glamorous, H&M etc.
