Garden in Rain
A glowy, geometric pattern from a vintage Russian scarf.

Solution

This pattern was created from photos of a vintage Soviet scarf. I have taken it to its basic elements and re-arranged them to fit an artificial, modern geometry: a glass paned artificial garden. Please note each of my designs have three images: the single repeat unit, the maximum scale at 164 cm fabric width* and a detailed closeup of the pattern. All sizes are real, but the resolution has been reduced to 96 dpi for web use.

Why does your design stand out?

This particular design has a great, cold colour with a slight tropical hint that is a perfect design for hot summer days. The pattern works well both at large or smaller scale, and could also work well as a small addition to garments, as skirts or or dresses, or smaller elements such as patches. It could be used boldly, or quite modestly too. Because this is created from a vintage fabric, this is the kind of pattern that works well on more traditionally tailored, vintage-inspired garments too.

Which kind of brands do you imagine using your design?

Fast-fashion chains, selling contemporary womenswear to urban adults, such as TopShop, Zara, Mango, Glamorous, etc.
