Solution

With my time on the sea, I will build a garden management app to simplify "agriscaping" and encourage locally grown edible foods. While building the app, I will conduct usability testing from the sea. This will require working with potential customers "overseas" and researching how best to do this. This is valuable, as market boundary lines no longer exist w/ the Internet. Please rate if you like or even dislike. I look forward to reading through your comments to help make this idea better.

In summary, what is your “Made on Coboat” project idea (max. 3 sentences)?

Enable gardening in every home, regardless of location and skill of owner. In doing so, further research on remote usability testing.

How much of your project can you realistically achieve in 100 days if you will get the chance to stay on the Coboat?

In 100 days, I can realistically build a working prototype for a single mobile platform. This goes from early conception of MVP, design, and development; while making iterations based on remote testing.

Will you complete this project on your own, or will you be working with a together with a team?

I will be working with a few teams. A team of developers will help me build the actual prototype, a group of folks will help me test the product remotely, and the team on the boat will help me test ideas and new processes.

Why should your project be chosen?

My project should be chosen because the product has potential to impact an industry - home gardening - and plenty of people. There aren't many solutions out there today that solve for this gap and opportunity. The importance of remote usability testing and research is increasingly becoming important since teams from around the world are working together to meet massive user bases.

What does this project mean to you?

This project is my passion project that I'm currently working to become a reality. I love gardening and building solutions. I know the positive impact of being outdoors and growing local food has on people. I believe that through my product, I can start to change the mentality of growing local and build a community around it.

Why do you want to do this project?

The project means a lot to me. I believe in the impact of positive change and know that there is a huge gap to be filled in the home-gardening industry. I want to create a new mentality to create a community around growing your own food, lowering reliance on out-of-state food and building a sense of self-reliance.
