I believe in a world where people wander around with open eyes and open hearts, respect other cultures and nature, and appreciate quality instead of quantity. That’s why I created the design blog WirHippies. What is different to any other design blog is that I show how and by whom products are made, through videos (I am currently shooting on Mallorca). As the boho style curates items mainly handmade from all over the world it will be always an experience full of new insights.
In summary, what is your “Made on Coboat” project idea (max. 3 sentences)?
Coboat will give me the opportunity to shoot incredible videos of traditionally made local design, from areas only accessible by boat. In combination with articles on the boho style and an enhanced social media campaign this will make WirHippies more known and successful. And so sustainability, fair trade and cultural awareness become more visible within interior design and the blogging scene.
How much of your project can you realistically achieve in 100 days if you will get the chance to stay on the Coboat?
How many videos I can shoot depends mostly on the Coboat's itenary. But for sure I will be able to make around 10 videos within 100 days. This very special footage plus the written articles is my USP to attract readers through social media, guest blogging and other cooperations. The goal is to have WirHippies positioned as a professional interior design blog at the end of Coboat .
Will you complete this project on your own, or will you be working with a together with a team?
I am the only captain on my blog :)
Why should your project be chosen?
Because my project will give insight to design and handcrafts in areas which are hard to reach and I couldn’t cover by travelling over land. Local artisans on the other hand will get the opportunity to share their views on crafts, sustainability and the world in general. And perhaps also sell their products. At the end the blog could add it's share to the debate about how we want to life and consume in today’s world. And make some apartments more beautiful.
What does this project mean to you?
The blog is what I believe in. That other cultures are interesting and not suspicious. That you respect nature and human being. And that handcrafted is something beautiful not something to overcome. Connecting consumers with makers is my humble way to make the world a little bit better.
Why do you want to do this project?
WirHippies is a blog where I can talk about other cultures and also my values and ideas through writing about interior design. Since my first big trip to India in 2008 - when I was 22 - I love the bohemian lifestyle: Iran, Turkey, India or Mexico, wherever you look you find beautiful design, furniture and craftsmanship. For me, these are possibilities to take some memories and sparks of unusualness back home. WirHippies is my way to share this experience with other people.

Please tell us a bit about yourself and your professional background. How do you fit into a team? What have you done before within the field of your idea?
Hi, my name is Lena. I work as a freelancer in recruiting, research and online marketing. This gives me the opportunity to live wherever I want, at the moment Barcelona. Earlier I studied Middle Eastern Studies and lived in Turkey and Iran. I am still in love with the Middle East and you will find a tile from Iran, a carpet from Egypt and a tablecloth from Syria in my house. WirHippies is the space where I can combine my writing skills with my passion for travelling and crafts.
