Adults and children alike live in an environment of unceasing stress, which affects them directly (performance pressure, interpersonal interactions, family) and indirectly (‘white noise’). Yet mind, body and emotions are connected. A conscious approach to life and leadership brings intelligence, emotions and physical wellbeing in synch. Because one cannot thrive without the others. High performance and value driven behavior start inside. Today’s reality is a mirror of ourselves .
In summary, what is your “Made on Coboat” project idea (max. 3 sentences)?
Create happiness inside to build happiness outside; the goal is to build a wave of social compassion, starting with the mind and motivation of individuals in Haiti. Even though the country is consistently portrayed as a place of misery, a large number of individuals are today in a position of choice to take action for others. These individuals must be conscious of their power as human beings, equipped with the tools to use it, and motivated to be game-changers for good.
How much of your project can you realistically achieve in 100 days if you will get the chance to stay on the Coboat?
Overall Timeline: The roll-out of the program will happen in three stages, starting with a pilot training to test the grounds; followed by the training of local trainers; and finally the establishment of a Foundation with and for Haitians, as a source of permanent inspiration and a training facility. The 100 days will serve to design the Foundation that will carry the philosophy within Haiti and beyond; including the set-up of a fundraising strategy.
Will you complete this project on your own, or will you be working with a together with a team?
The goal is to design a concept that will inspire a large number of individuals across the social spectrum to get involved.
Why should your project be chosen?
Because the world is at a threshold. There is a widening gap between those who have and those who don’t, and an increasing disconnect between values and topics of attention. Change can start today, everywhere, and everyone can be the point of departure. This revolution has been lingering for ages and can’t wait any longer. Haiti is the perfect illustration that national progress starts inside.
What does this project mean to you?
Everything. It will translate into tangible results for children and their families the belief that has been guiding my research and work over the past 13 years.
Why do you want to do this project?
I've been pursuing the fulfillment of children’s rights for more than a decade, and with every year that passes I become more acutely aware that lasting change for the most vulnerable will not merely come from institutions. A PhD that I finished in December, demonstrates that we've a responsibility to take action for those in need, and that individuals and societies have an interest to act accordingly. The proposed project is the logical continuation of translating this conclusion into results.

No. References to mindfulness and neuroscience are included to provide the rational fundament.
Please tell us a bit about yourself and your professional background. How do you fit into a team? What have you done before within the field of your idea?
Pushed by the belief that every human being has the same rights I studied Law in , and driven by the fact that each of us has a social obligation I started to work in humanitarian aid. Over the past 13 years I got the opportunity to live in Africa, Asia and now the Caribbean. With every new person I meet I discover a new perspective to life. Still the hope for happiness is a great equalizer, connecting people across cultures. Working with a team of innovators would be a gift.
