This logo is a representation of a connection between two separate areas as well as an abstract depiction of a person at a computer.  It's simple, rounded, square design mimics the tradition of social network icons, which are generally square and rounded, and when shrunk down fits in nicely with the other icons (not that it would necessarily need to fit in with them, but it's important that it brings social networks to mind).
