We designed a collaborative network that gathers in one service the typical stores located in Baixa-Chiado. Using a voucher that can be used in all these stores will bring new customers in and show to the community what they have to offer. The main goal is to preserve these stores and show the community they exist.
I AM LOCAL is a project designed to help the local community and the local stores. Combining those two we created a network based on a voucher that can be used by the community in all the stores involved in the project. The voucher can be on the receipt of your purchase or you can add it to the app and accumulate. Later you can go to another store involved in the project and spend that vouchers!

Overview About Your Solution
Every day, we see new stores made for tourists opening in Baixa-Chiado. According to ‘O Sol’, from 2012 to 2018, more than 120 typical portuguese stores closed and some of them became tourist made shops. This is a problem that occurs all around the world in most of the biggest city’s downtowns. I’m Local consists in the creation of a collaborative network that gathers in one service the typical stores located in Baixa-Chiado. Using a voucher system that is accepted in all these stores will bring more and new customers in and show to the community what they have to offer. The main goal is to preserve these stores, giving them visibility and also help the local trade to grow. When searching for these stores we defined that they must be located relatively close to each other for convenience and accessibility purposes. Every time you buy something in one of the stores, 5% of that value is given to you as a voucher that you can spend in any other store from the network. Voucher costs are a small investment for the stores. They spend 5% of their profit on these vouchers, which means that for every 1000€ in profit, only 50€ is enough to cover the vouchers. This will increase the store’s visibility and economical empowering, proportionally increasing the profit for these stores. Being free to spend the vouchers in any store you want, creates a problem of unfair discounts. The customer can collect a lot of vouchers in ten of the stores and spend them all in one of them, taking all their profit away. So periodically, a balance is made between generated and discounted vouchers, which means that a store that generated more vouchers than discounted, has to compensate the one who had the inverse balance. There are two ways to use the vouchers, the receipt and the app. Here the customer can know more about the project, know which stores are involved and where they are located. The costumer can also accumulate vouchers and create new ones to use later. We have these two options in order to get to every type of user preference. To accomplish our goal of increasing visibility, each store will have a sticker located on the door and an illustration with a QR code that allows people to scan it and know more about the project. To launch the project when implemented, there would be water soluble painted footprints on the floor, connecting the stores trough out the city. The ‘About it’ stand will be placed on the balcony of the stores, so that people can learn more about it.
This is where the project is located. It's a neighborhood near the faculty and all the stores are contained in the small circle making the walk trough each shop easier for the costumer.
This is the network map. This how it all works and how it is all connected. The project establishes the center connections between the costumer the stores and the local institutions. On the left we made a template to be used in any city that wants to embrace this project.
This is the app we created not only to accumulate voucher but also to give information to the user. It has all the information you need, to know which stores are involved, where they are located.
All the adverts for the project will be on the stores involved. A sticker on the facade with a QR code a small sticker on the door and a small stand on the cashier with all the information about the project. Also every time a new store joins the project there will be footprints painted on the floor.
