The office of the future is the one in which distance is not an issue anymore. The one that brings the user into the conference room environment, creating a virtual reality meeting for him, and a holographic projection of him, to the other participants, all is tactile, all is technology. Organic, auto shape shifting furniture, smart OLED display as walls, windows, smart tables. All these have a high electricity consumption and a significant impact upon the environment, so the office of the future would hopefully be eco-friendly and sustainable.
Describe the challenge that the team faces:
The high electric maintenance of an office building and the lack of physical activity, are a real problem that we encounter daily. What if there could be a stimulus that could make you be more often and contibute to the electric bill? And what if the air in the building would be cleaner without any AC system?
Briefly describe your solution:
An ACTIVE BUILDING which improves the working environment on two different layers: increased physical activity lead to increased productivity and less electrical consumption. This way you can easily say that the office is “creating energy to actually create creative energy”
Explain how it improves teamwork and solves the problems we encounter today:
The ACTIVE BUILDING is a concept based on the collaboration between built environment and technology, designed to improve physical and mental health inside the office. It is scientifically proven that movement increases social collaboration and productivity.
Explain how it works in 5 steps:
- The user walks/stands/jumps on the piezoelectric floor;
- Upon squeezing the piezoelectric blocks, energy is generated;
- The energy is stored in a battery system and used inside the office;
- The organic concrete cleans the air witout any extra electric cost;
- Electricity produced by the flooring, poweres the smart displays and hologramic projection, computers etc.
