Here we have the same problem in Bihar. Agricultural land with poor irrigation system which face water shortages in the dry season.
According to FAO Corporate Document Repository (see table), irrigation systems which use impeller blades such as propeller pump, centrifugal pump, or jet pump on wells with a depth of more than 5 meters will require a high power source of electricity.
I was trying to combine the design of the hand pumps with a low power consumption 50W motors,  but produce large water output which can be used for wells with a depth of 5 to 20 meters. This design has a total weight of about 100kg and can be manufactured using local materials which I'm sure is easily found in Bihar.
If one stroke / rotation produce 1 liter of water, and one rotation takes 3 seconds, it can produce about 1200 liters per hour.
Solar panels are used is 200W (2pc solar panels  @100W with dimensions 1025mm x 680mm). While it takes power only 50W on motor which excess energy can be saved to a battery which can be used for pumping or lighting at night. Here also anticipate where the weather is not sunny conditions that can result in the production of electricity down.

If using a 100W motors, it will get greater torque so it can produce more water.
If the piston diameter of 10cm and one stroke length is 30cm, it will produce 2.5 liters of water in a stroke. And if in a single rotation takes 3 seconds, it can produce about 3000 liters per hour. Assume if one day is 8 hours, then the produced are 24000 liters of water.

In Indonesia, I think this design would cost about $ 1,000. The excess of $ 500 can be used maintenance the pump for 10 years.  And this design can be combined with old-fashioned hand pump with a little adjustment.
I understand that my design is far from perfect and I am open to suggestions from others.
