Irrigation device
“By 2025, India will be in deep water crisis, said experts at a seminar on water scarcity organized by Universal Rationale Genre of Exponents (URGE) and that water level is going down by 1 to 3 meters every year.”

Solution

India is an Agrarian country with around 60% of its people directly or indirectly depend upon Agriculture. Agriculture in India is often attributed as gambling with Monsoon because of its almost exclusive dependency on Monsoons. The failure of these monsoons leading to series of droughts, lack of better prices, exploitation by Middlemen have been leading to series of suicides committed by farmers across India

In April 2009, the state of Chattisgarh reported 1,500 farmers committed suicide due to debt and crop failure.[13] At least 17,368 Indian farmers killed themselves in 2009, the worst figure for farm suicides in six years, according to data of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

The irrigation device was developed for a real time situation.

The problem was water shortage in the region (Rajapalyam, Tamil Nadu, India) where the company wanted to start their agriculture venture.Adding to water shortage, there was lesser man power too, and so they required a product which would address both.

Having calculated approximately the water requirement, the tanker capacity was decided and a spout was attached which would sprinkle the water over the required area there by preventing water wastage.

Two spouts were designed, the first one which can be used while growing the nursery and the second, which can be used when the saplings are transplanted to the main field.

This not only prevents wastage of water but also deters weed growth in the field.

The wheel base of the tractor, matches the ridges and furrows in the field. The same proportions are used in the second spout design so that the only ridges get the water supply.

The project is still in the first functional prototype phase.
