Jekate Chair
A lounge chair made of natural rattan with modern shape

This chair designed by me back in 2011. When people lives in some big cities, they're always got to face to face with some traffic in the streets, crowded, and stressfull. When they got home, they need to release the stress, need to be relax. And this relaxing chair will do the job. Rattan has been selected as the main material because in my country (Indonesia), rattan is well known as a furniture material for decades, its flexible, easy to bend, and have a beautiful color and texture.

What was the task for the work you show here?

To show that rattan can be applied to make a modern shape, and still looking good.

What was your unique idea?

The weaving pattern of Rattan Poles, its "randomly" woven, inspired by the traffic jam. The rattan poles overlapping from one to others. For aesthetic value, and construction as well.

Is the work you present here originally and genuine made by you?

Yes, it's my original design, and made by a Rattan Factory located in Indonesia.
