An energy sculpture on the top of a mining dump in the industrial region of the Saar- Territory.

Solution

The sculpture consist of slopes coated with colored solar films and a Flettner-rotor for wind energy gains. Informations about the history of mining are shown in a small pavilion. In the night or for special occasions the sculpture glows in changing colored light. The sculpture and its different manifestations are intended to work as a symbol for the installation of new and groundbreaking technologies in the region.

What was the task for the work you show here?

A landmark sign to show the dramatic change in the exploitation of raw materials for the energy production from the past to future.

What was your unique idea?

To show the unavoidable conflict between traditional and progressive technologies on a place of historical significance.
