Timber Gateway for a Jewish Summer Camp. Entirely built with materials gathered on site and executed by the architect-artist. Black locust and pine. Two light rail stations realized from architectural competitions, executed by professional tradesmen.
Explain how and why you created this work. Was it for a specific brief, etc.?
What were you trying to express?
A rustic structure that would allow clearnace for over-the-road trucks, consistent with the camp's ideals. So, from some angles the structure resolves into a Star of David. The Browns football station has a terrazzo floor showing a symbolic football field with an historic "Browns Draw Play". The Minneapolis Station echoes the vernacular brickwork of the surrounding warehouses and contains various historic photographs etched on ceramic tile depicting the surrounding area.
Is it 100% your original work?
